Required Gear
To mount CineBack™ Lite to you camera, you'll need either a 15mm rod system or some other way to mount the unit to your camera. Watch the video above to see how Caleb Pike recommends you do this using the following items:
- Base Plate - This is how you'll mount your camera to rods. This SmallRig version is our favorite but if your budget is tight, this unit is the most affordable.
- 15mm Rods - There are thousands of rod options on the market. Just choose a length, material and go! 8 inches is a nice small compact length for most of these rigs but you do you!
- Quick Release - If you want to be able to quickly remove your camera from the baseplate, we recommend a quick release system. The Falcam F38 quick release is super fast or this SmallRig Arca Swiss option is also good with this unit being a little faster to release. Finally these Arca Swiss Clamps are the most affordable quick release option.

This product quite literally turned my camera into a superhero. At first we were just Clark Kent or Peter Parker. Untapped potential, overlooked. As soon as I attach the CineBack Lite the glasses come off, the costume comes on, and we're off to save the nearest damsel in distress. All jokes aside once you figure out your perfect setup cuz it's going to be different for everybody and you figure out the correct spacing it becomes very easy to rig up and be ready for whatever a long shoot is going to throw at you. Some people speak on the value and to be honest I feel like what's not mentioned is how much I learned by simply getting this thing set up how I wanted it. Do you have any idea how many times I watched Caleb's rig videos over and over again it was like the movie clockwork Orange my girlfriend would walk in stare at the ceiling scream at the top of her lungs I'm foaming at the mouth holding a CineBack Lite and a DTaP to barrel connector. SpaghettiOs everywhere. It put a strain in our relationship. But alas, I emerged from my funyun cocoon a better and wiser man. A boy entered and something greater emerged. See boys it's not about the CineBack anymore it's about the amount of nato rails, magic arms, and right angle cables we ended up buying and never using along the way. I ended up selling a lot of my girlfriend's stuff and buying a second CineBack Lite for my fx3. The second rig sits atop my fireplace mantle as a reminder anyone who walks in my home. I am Cinema. They better not forget it.
I purchased the CineBack Lite as the centerpiece for Sony FX3 rig. I just finished my first shoot with the new setup in a very challenging exterior location and it worked flawlessly. It's great to see innovative products come to market from a small company who clearly has a passion for filmmaking. Bravo!
Good quality, screwing it in is a bit flimsy and the monitor place keeps sliding around. Other than that, is good, just it is not secure for the monitor...
